MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, painless procedure that is used to maintain healthy looking skin, reduce fine lines, and produce smooth, even skin texture and color. In conjunction with a natural skin care program, microdermabrasion treatments can help diminish many skin imperfections and restore the glow and natural vitality of youthful skin. Microdermabrasion uses a fine jet of crystals to gently and painlessly exfoliate the skin for a healthier, softer looking appearance.

In addition so surface exfoliation, microdermabrasion promotes the production of new cells in the basal (deepest layer of the dermis), cleans the pores, and stimulates blood flow and collagen to further improve skin texture. Microdermabrasion can be successfully used on light or dark skinned patients to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, elbows, knees, hands and back.

How is Microdermabrasion performed?

Microdermabrasion is a  skin resurfacing method that can be performed as a lunch hour procedure for instantly rejuvenated skin. After cleansing your treatment area, the skin care therapist will use jet sterile micro-crystals to gently exfoliate your skin. The skin care therapist will adjust the pressure for your skin type and move the microdermabrasion hand piece across the treatment area to deliver precise abrasion onto the skin’s surface. The scale-like, lifeless epidermal cells and crystals are then suctioned back into the same hand piece to reveal a fresh, invigorated skin surface. After your treatment, the skin care therapist may choose to apply a light skin polishing agent or facial mask to optimize your results.

Who is the best candidate for Microdermabrasion?

This simple, quick and convenient procedure has become very popular with patients showing the early signs of aging, sun exposure and other facial imperfections.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

Because microdermabrasion is so precise, the procedure is virtually pain-free. Your skin may feel a little hot and appear a little pink immediately following your treatment, and some patients report a mild stinging sensation around the eyes. Patients typically experience some redness for about an hour after the procedure.

How long does the procedure take and how many will I need?

Microdermabrasion is a quick procedure that usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes. We recommend you start with 4-8 sessions, one every two weeks. Following your initial treatment, your skin maintenance program should include an additional treatment every 1-3 months. Most people should see dramatic improvements after just a few treatments, but stick with it for the best results! Severe skin problems, such as deep acne scars and dark spots, will take several treatments before any noticeable improvement.

What is the recovery like?

Other than avoiding the sun the day of the procedure, you can return to normal activities immediately following your microdermabrasion treatment. We recommend maintaining a thorough skin care regimen in order to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy. This includes drinking lots of water, keeping your face well-protected from the sun every day, following a daily cleansing and moisturizing routine.
